Anti-Gay Jamaican Reggae Singer To Perform

Sizzla, a Jamaican reggae singer who has previously been denied a visa to Britain because of his anti-gay lyrics, will be allowed to incite hate crimes against gays tonight at the Cleveland House of Blues. A show at the West Hollywood House of Blues has been cancelled after protests by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. The House of Blues chain is owned by comedians Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi.

Their mission statement:

"to promote racial and spiritual harmony through love, peace, truth, righteousness and non-violence"

Unless you are gay or lesbian, I guess.

Sizzla (aka Miguel Collins) has in the past been dropped from the MTV Music Awards as well as a British awards show. His most recent European tour was cancelled following LGBT protests and entry was denied to other countries after his UK visa application was turned down. Death threats were made by his supporters to British LGBT activist Peter Tatchell and were taken so seriously that he was given around the clock police protection.

Sounds like the promotion of spiritual harmony through love to me.

Update: Pam posts that BlogActive has an action item on this. Go.
