Speaking of New York....

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been snubbed by his state's largest gay civil rights group - Empire State Pride Agenda - in favor of Democrat Fernando Ferrer. The group endorsed Ferrer.
Ferrer has said publicly and stated recently in a letter to the Pride Agenda that, if elected Mayor, he will stop fighting the Equal Benefits Bill, will implement the Dignity in All Schools Act, will stop the appeal of the court decision on marriage and will marry the first same-sex couple in the city.
"Ferrer'’s support for our community, now and in the past, is well-documented and stretches back twenty years," said Van Capelle. "When he was on the City Council in 1986, he provided a critical vote in getting the landmark gay rights bill out of committee and onto the floor, where it ultimately passed and was signed into law - none of which was popular in his Council district."
