Honoring Veterans

Oakland, CA will be the site of a gay and lesbian Veterans Day parade this year.
The Nov. 11 march, to the the U.S.S. Potomac which is moored at Oakland, will remember LGBT servicemembers who died in the service of their country. The observance will coincide with the Creating Change conference - a national grassroots LGBT - being held in Oakland from November 9 – 13.

"This Veterans Day, Equality California will honor the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, in our armed forces but also strongly condemn the harmful and divisive 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy that keeps openly LGBT people out of the military and forces LGBT individuals to serve in silence,” said Geoffrey Kors, Executive Director of Equality California.
